If you were hoping that Apple’s next smartwatch will come with a round display, according to a new rumor out of South Korea, you will be disappointed.
Unfortunately, if this new report is to be believed, it looks like Apple won’t jump onto the “round smartwatch display” bandwagon anytime soon, like essentially all the other important players in the market.
According to the source, besides LG (which produced the display for the current Apple Watch), Samsung will also provide P-OLED panels for Apple’s second smartwatch, unlike what we heard not long ago.
More details below.
Reportedly, the display of the next gen Apple Watch will be identical in terms of screen size and resolution to those of its predecessor.
As a quick reminder, the current Apple Watch comes in two display sizes and resolutions: 33.5 mm (1.32 in) diagonal, 272×340 pixels and 39 mm (1.5 in) diagonal, 312×390 pixel.
However, it looks like the display will be thinner in order to allow for a larger battery. As battery life was one of the main points of controversy regarding Apple’s first smartwatch, you’ll probably agree that it will be a more than welcomed improvement.
