As you may remember, about two months ago we’ve reported that the global rollout for the HTC Sensation has begun, and roughly a month later we’ve got confirmation from T-Mobile that they indeed plan on launching the Ice Cream Sandwich update for both the HTC Sensation 4G and the HTC Amaze 4G. Unfortunately, the bad news came when the update for the Sensation 4G has been delayed due to several bugs.
HTC Amaze 4G, HTC Sensation 4G Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4 ICS)
This push-back was not received well by T-Mobile customers which in fact accused the carrier for holding back on the update on purpose in order to ensure the success of the HTC One S. Nevertheless, T-Mobile explained that the reasons behind the delay is that they intend on testing the HTC Sensation ICS update more thoroughly before launching the update.
Interestingly enough, Cincinnati Bell beat T-Mobile to it and launched the ICS update for the HTC Sensation roughly a week and a half ago, with T-Mobile nowhere near a concrete launch date of the update for the HTC Sensation 4G, although a leaked ICS build for the HTC Amaze 4G did surfaced and was quite well received by the smartphone’s owners.
So, the question remains: when will T-Mobile launch the ICS update on these two HTC devices? Well, the latest rumor surfacing via TmoNews, indicates that T-Mobile is sure not in a hurry (ok, they might be thoroughly testing the update), and might release Android 4 ICS starting 16th of June.
We hope this turns out not to be true because a mid-June launch of the update sounds rather ridiculous, and if the leaked version targeting the HTC Amaze runs as well as initial reports indicate, we really can’t understand why T-Mobile would disappoint their customers by holding back on the update.
I suppose we’ll have to wait and see whether or not the carrier intends on launching the update next month, and whether or not T-Mobile will manage to come up with a viable excuse this time, if they really are planning on launching the update mid-June.
We’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out more on the subject.
Thanks TmoNews for the heads-up regarding the HTC Amaze 4G and HTC Sensation 4G Ice Cream Sandwich update.
