HTC has been quite a busy bee lately. Back in February, during the Mobile World Congress, the Taiwanese manufacturer lifted the veil on a couple of fresh “Desire” smartphones, namely the 816 (which sells like hotcakes in China), as well as the 610. Shortly after MWC came to an end, HTC has also announced the Desire 310, a mid-range device powered by the MediaTek MT6582M quad-core processor.
But, the story hasn’t come to an end yet, as yesterday the Taiwanese company has finally made the new One (M8) flagship official. Fast forward until earlier today, and yet another HTC smartphone has been approved by the Chinese authorities. We’re referring to the Desire 616 – the company’s first smartphone to pack an octa-core processor.
Given the fact that the 616 has barely made it through the Chinese equivalent of the FCC, one would think that it will take a while before we’ll be able to see live pictures with the device, but that’s definitely not the case. HTC Exhibits its Octa-Core Desire 616
Given the history behind the new HTC One – namely the amount of leaks surrounding this particular device – you’d think that the gallery above is comprised of leaked images and whatnot.
In reality though, the live pics above have been captured somewhere in China, where HTC is already exhibiting the Desire 616. The handset is as real as it can be, and it surely seems like the Taiwanese manufacturer intends to raise awareness and launch the handset in question as soon as possible – probably due to the fact that the Chinese mobile market is a big fan of octa-core processors.
The gadget in question is expected to pack a MediaTek 8-core CPU clocked at 1.7 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, a 5 inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280, an 8 MP main camera with an LED flash, and Android 4.4.2 out of the box with Sense 5 on top. The gadget will allegedly be made available in black, white, red, blue and yellow.
