HTC DLX / Incredible X / Google Nexus 5 Surfaces Again, Looks Awesome

by Mihai Matei on October 23, 2012

We’ve kept our eyes on the mysterious 5-inch  HTC smartphone for quite a while now, and after months of waiting for the manufacturer to spill the beans we finally had the chance to see how the device looks like and what hardware it conceals underneath.

In other words, the HTC J Butterfly has recently been unveiled in Japan, it looks gorgeous and its hardware specs have not let us down in the least. Nevertheless, we got even more excited about the idea that this beast will eventually make its way towards the US market under the name of HTC Droid Incredible X, and if the handset has caught your interest as well, join us after the break and we’ll talk more about its arrival at Verizon.

Now, let’s get down to business. We’ve previously seen some nice press renders with the HTC J Butterfly but what you see above is allegedly the HTC Droid Incredible X, also known as DLX, and as its name and the branding on the front panel suggests, this particular gadget that has been caught in the wilds is Verizon’s model.

As a side-note, we’ve previously used the term “DIX” to describe this particular gadget (short from Droid Incredible X), but as it turns out, its codename is actually “DLX” and it stands for “Deluxe”. The Japanese Butterfly is also known as “Deluxe J” so that pretty much settles it.

Getting back to the matter at hand, other than the leaked picture you see above not much has been revealed so far, so we might still look at a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU inside, 2 GB of RAM, 8 MP camera on the back and all that good stuff.

As for the Google Nexus 5, we’ve mentioned it in our title simply because this alleged Google device should use the DLX as a foundation, so both handsets might share some similarities in both terms of looks (perhaps not so much) and hardware (just like LG Optimus G and LG Nexus 4 are not-so-distant relatives).

Are you excited about HTC’s upcoming flagship phone? Would you buy one from Verizon, or are you planning on getting the One X+ instead?

Thanks Android Central for the heads-up regarding the HTC DLX / Incredible X / Google Nexus 5.
