Back in February we’ve brought you news that HTC has announced their plans on launching Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on some of their most notable handsets that were available at that time, including the “lightning fast” HTC Thunderbolt and the HTC Droid Incredible 2.
Well, concerning the Thunderbolt, about a week ago we got word that the update should be ready by the end of August, and our hopes got a pretty big boost when a few days later a brand new ICS + HTC Sense 3.6 leak has surfaced on the blogosphere, indicating that perhaps the “end of the month” timeslot is still a pretty big possibility.
Now the HTC Droid Incredible 2 catches up as a brand new ICS RUU has been leaked.
HTC Incredible 2 Ice Cream Sandwich
A leaked RUU of Ice Cream Sandwich is now available for download from XDA so in case you’re out of patience waiting for the official OTA you might give this one a try.
This particular ICS ROM includes HTC Sense 3.6, it’s mostly stock and it’s pretty functional overall. However it does come with a few bugs, such as the “incompatibility” between data and Wi-Fi, where one mode must be turned off in order for the other one to work properly. Other not-so-visible bugs might’ve crawled into the build, so make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into before you flash.
As for the official OTA launch, we hope HTC will pick-up the pace and deliver the update sooner rather than later. We’ll keep an eye out, but in the meantime feel free to visit XDA and give this build a try if your fingers are itchy.
Thanks Droid Life for the heads-up regarding the HTC Incredible 2 Ice Cream Sandwich leaked build.
