HTC One X Follow Up Rears Its Head – Could This Be The Rumored HTC XXL?

by Mihai on July 14, 2012

Last month when everything was revolving around the release of the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the US, a rumor concerning a so called “HTC One XXL” briefly appeared on the radar, almost as if we were warned not to get too carried away by SGS3′s awesomeness.

In case you’ve missed our earlier entries regarding the matter, the mysterious device is dubbed the HTC One XXL and at that time it boasted a quad-core CPU alongside LTE connectivity and 2 GB of RAM. We were very pleased with the idea of an HTC One X variation that might steal Galaxy S3′s thunder, and we kept our eyes opened for any new information concerning the XXL.

Well, as it turns out an HTC branded device appeared on the GLBenchmark website, and by the looks of it it’s pretty darn similar with our XXL. Check back after the break for details.

HTC One XXL Surfaces Again?

According to this latest finding on the GLBenchmark website, a new HTC device appeared on the radar boasting a Tegra 3 processor overclocked at 1.7 GHz. Furthermore, it appears to have a 720p display same as the One X (although the size of the screen is uncertain), it might come with Android 4.0.4 out of the box, and wears the model number “PM63100″ and the codename “evitareu”. This alone links the device to the One X, since the latter was previously known as Evita. That being said the Evitareu might very much be the One XXL, but, there is an inconsistency in this entire story.

As you may recall from when we first talked about the XXL, the handset in question was supposed to boast a Snapdragon S4 processor and LTE, not a Tegra 3. That being said, we think this particular Evitareu is actually the HTC One X follow up (XXL) while the handset powered by the quad-core S4 CPU might be a different device altogether.

That’s all I have for now, but we’ll definitely going to follow the Evitareu/HTC One XXL. Stay tuned as we’ll keep you up to speed as soon as we find out more.

Thanks DroidLife for the heads-up regarding the HTC One XXL Evitareu.

I’ve heard many rumors concerning the follow up to the HTC One X, and it’s got me very excited. I just got the One X last week, after a coworker, at Dish, let me play around on his. There’s nothing better than streaming live TV and recordings over the LTE network, through the Dish Remote Access app and using my Sling Adapter hooked up to my receiver. So far it has been completely seamless, but I can’t help but wonder what it’ll be like with a quad-core processor. Hopefully it does take the air out of Samsung’s Galaxy SIII, that’s all I’ve heard about lately.
