It’s no secret that HTC had next to no success with its tablets. Not that they were many (HTC Flyer and HTC Jetstream). However, throughout 2013, various rumors have claimed that HTC is ready to get back into the tablet game. Last time we heard, HTC was allegedly getting ready to release a Windows 8 powered slate, and then nothing happened.
Well, according to the latest rumors, HTC is getting ready for a comeback on the tablet market. And what a comback it would be … join us after the break for more.
According to the Taiwanese media (Focus Taiwan citing the biggest Taiwanese financial newspaper: Commercial Times), HTC has recently won the bid for manufacturing a “high end” Google Nexus tablet which will allegedly begin shipping sometime in Q3 2014.
Nothing more is being mentioned, so we don’t know if HTC has been selected (according to said rumor) by Google to manufacture the next Nexus 7 or the second Nexus 10. What stands out is the “high end” part, which might be a clue that we’re talking about the Nexus 10 or an entirely new Nexus tablet.
This would be the second Nexus device built by HTC, as the Taiwanese company has been the one behind the first Nexus smartphone, back in 2010.
