HTC J Butterfly Sequel Officially Confirmed

by Mihai Matei on May 8, 2014

Earlier today, Japanese carrier KDDI has announced its summer smartphone line-up, and those of you who have joined us a bit earlier today should have already learned that the new LG Isai has also been part of the announcement.

However, a “line-up” consists in more than just one phone, and unsurprisingly enough, KDDI has more in store for its customers. As a matter of fact, the carrier’s plans to release a HTC J Butterfly sequel have also been officially confirmed, thus the existence of the rumored next J Butterfly has been set in stone. However, unlike with the Isai, it’s interesting to note that the Butterfly’s specifications have not been made official just yet. Interested in finding out the details? Then as always, join us below and we’ll discuss more.

Indeed, the next smartphone in the J Butterfly series has now been confirmed by KDDI, but as mentioned above, the handset still remains shrouded in a thick layer of mystery. According to htcsoku, HTC’s newest policy concerning flagship smartphones might be to make them available for purchase on the same day of their announcement, much like the company did with the HTC One M8.

As such, KDDI has been unable to reveal any details regarding the said device, but being part of the “summer line-up”, the HTC J Butterfly sequel should be hitting the shelves within the next several months.

As far as specifications go, the handset has been spotted in AnTuTu not too long ago, and the device appears to be packing a Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a 1080 x 1920 display, and a 5 MP / 13 MP (no UltraPixel) camera setup. The gadget is expected to hit the shelves with Android 4.4.2 out of the box, and most likely with Sense 6 UI on top. Last but not least, the HTC J Butterfly sequel will support WiMAX 2 and LTE-Advanced.

This wraps it up for today’s announcement, but we’ll continue to keep an eye out on HTC and KDDI so stay tuned for more.
