HTC managed to do the “impossible” this year, by releasing its latest flagship phone – the One M8 – on the same day as the smartphone’s official announcement. Needless to say, the One M8 has been out and about for a few weeks, and the device continues to be one of the main attractions of the mobile market.
Despite all that, it appears that the Taiwanese manufacturer is already working on a successor, or a “refresh”. Much like the rumored Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, the so-called “HTC One M8 Prime” seems to take a step into QHD territory, and based on these fresh rumored specifications, the handset will bring further improvements to the hardware side of things. Check out the details below.
HTC One M8 Prime – First Batch of Rumored Specs
A list of specifications associated with a device boasting the code name “M8_Prime” has recently leaked on the web, and according to these details, the smartphone in question will feature a 5.5 inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, a Snapdragon 805 APQ8084 SoC, 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage.
In addition, the gadget will allegedly feature Qualcomm’s latest MDM9x35 multimode modem, which is the first of its kind to have been built on the 20 nm technology. It also supports global carrier aggregation deployments (up to 40 MHz for FDD Category 6 and LTE TDD), and can achieve download speeds of up to 300 Mbps.
The story doesn’t end here though, as the same source (who by the way, has a very accurate track record of HTC-related leaks and rumors), has also suggested that the HTC One M8 Prime will boast a new camera combo, comprised out of “18 MP Depth / 5 MP UP”. While the source isn’t too specific about the camera setup, what we understand is that the device will feature a 5 MP UltraPixel main sensor, complemented by an 18 MP secondary shooter, used for the out-of-focus blur effect (or bokeh).
Last but not least, the same source suggests that these specs appear to represent a development unit, and that the final product might be further improved in terms of hardware. The handset is believed to be released “around” September 2014.
