I’ve never thought we’d get back to this one again, but do you remember the HTC Quattro we’ve talked about back in November last year? Yep, the one that was supposed to be Asus Transformer Prime’s contender, boasting a quad-core CPU and all that good stuff.
Well, you may not remember what all was about and that’s understandable, because the last time we’ve talked about the HTC Quattro was when its rear-facing camera was allegedly tested and the picture leaked on the web.
Now it appears that the HTC Vertex, the tabled codenamed “Quattro”, might get back in the picture. Sounds intriguing! Join us after the break and learn the details.
HTC Quattro / Vertex Still in the Making?
Here’s the deal. Since we haven’t heard from the Quattro / Vertex for some time now, we thought HTC was done with it and the project was in the bin. However, according to the latest rumors, HTC is planning on joining the Tablet wars sometime in the near future, with a tablet bearing the codename “VertexF-PRM” that seems rather similar to the HTC Vertex.
The mysterious tablet surfaced on the NenaMark website and judging by the revealed specs, the Quattro / Vertex might very well be back in the game. The tablet’s results are indicating that it packs a Tegra 3 CPU running at 1.3 GHz, information that is spot-on with what the Vertex was supposed to offer back in the day. The only inconsistency is the fact that the display of the tablet in question shows a resolution of 1280 x 752 pixels, whereas the Vertex was supposed to have a resolution of 1280 x 768.
However, since we’re taking about a very long period of time since we’ve last heard about the Vertex, the specs are definitely subject to change and what we’ve learned back in November might not be one hundred per cent accurate at this point in time.
But, just for the fun of it and in order to have a general idea of what the mysterious tablet might offer, here’s a short list of specs related to the HTC Vertex:
- 10.1 inch display
- Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU
- 1 GB of RAM
- 16 GB of internal storage
- 2 MP camera on the rear
- 1.3 front-facing camera
- Beats Audio
- HTC Scribe for stylus
On short, despite the fact that roughly 8 months have passed since we’ve got a hold on these specs, they don’t sound that bad and if we consider the fact that recently a rumor surfaced claiming that HTC’s next tablet will have some unique features, we’re quite intrigued. Throw in a better camera on the back and a larger amount of internal storage and there you have it.
That’s all there is to it for now, but stay tuned as we might stumble across this mysterious HTC tablet in the near future. In the meantime, let us know what you think and whether or not you’d be interested in buying an HTC tablet.
Thanks Pocket Now for the heads-up regarding the HTC Quattro / Vertex.
