The IFA Berlin trade show is less than two weeks away, and with each passing day we seem to learn more and more about the products that are planned to make their debut. Earlier yesterday, Qualcomm announced that a new range of Snapdragon 615-powered smartphones will be coming soon, and all evidence so far suggests that these gadgets will be preset at IFA. Shortly after Qualcomm broke the silence, HTC started sending out invites for a new unveiling event at IFA, and it didn’t take long for speculations to emerge suggesting that HTC’s upcoming device will join the “Desire” family with a Snapdragon 615 chipset under the hood.
Interestingly enough, HTC is now teasing a new smartphone which, by the looks of it, might bear the “Desire 820” moniker.
HTC Teases a New Smartphone, Possibly the Desire 820
The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer posted a new teaser image (above) via its official Weibo account, saying that the “820” figure will be given a new meaning. Evidently, the only meaning we can think of that would make sense in this context is that HTC is preparing the rumored Desire 820 for an imminent unveiling, possibly during the aforementioned “Save the date” event which will take place in Berlin, during IFA.
Although the Desire 820’s hardware specifications are unknown, there’s a high possibility that the said smartphone will adopt Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 SoC, virtually pushing the Desire series into 64-bit territory. The chipset sports an Adreno 405 graphics chip, and an octa-core processor (four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores running at a frequency of 1.0 GHz).
If the Desire 820 is indeed planned to debut at IFA, then we’re bound to learn more about the device ahead of its official unveiling. We’ll be keeping an eye out, so stick around for more.
