HTC started this year with a bang by announcing that the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is coming in fast to a number of devices. The first reports we had surrounded the HTC Sensation, XL and 4G, which would be getting the update by the end of March. HTC didn’t stop there and touted that the HTC Vivid, Incredible S, Desire S and HD would get updated to Android 4.0 as well.
This time around, the HTC Vivid is joining us again in another step towards the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. We talked about the Vivid receiving the update some time ago and more news and leaks have come our way.
HTC Vivid Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4 ICS)
HTC officially confirmed that the Vivid is on the list of devices to get Android 4 ICS back when the manufacturer announced the HTC One X. Since then, a lucky user has gotten an OTA update for his Vivid. Thanks to some quick reactions, the update was saved and the file was uploaded to the developer community.

HTC Vivid Ice Cream Sandwich Update Release Date Closing In Fast (Android 4 ICS)
Since that happened, a somewhat functional ROM has been released. This brings Android 4.0.3 and HTC’s Sense 3.6 to the Vivid. Note that ever since the ROM went live, there have been reports of devices which turned into paper weights (aka bricks). The build is still very much in its early stages, so we are not talking here about a functional or stable solution just yet.
If you value your handset and do not wish to go down the same path, we do understand. However, if you are brave enough, you can try it by heading over to the XDA Developers thread. The best past is that the Android 4.0 update for the HTC Vivid is close to completion according to this leak.
In case you are the owner of a Vivid, make sure to keep your eyes peeled, as we will report back as soon as the official update is out. Your thoughts on this? Drop us a line and stay tuned for more!
Thanks Android Central for letting us know about the upcoming HTC Vivid Ice Cream Sandwich update.
