[UPDATE] Considering the lower than expected hardware specs (720p display, 1GB of RAM) disclosed by another leaked pic (see below) this could be in fact the Huawei Ascend G7, Mate 7’s mid range brother which has also been teased during the last several days by company officials.
During the weekend, Huawei started sending out press invites for a new event which will take place at IFA in Berlin – the trade-show where the majority of smartphone manufacturers are expected to announce what might be their last flagship devices for 2014.
Needless to say, the next best thing expected to come out of Huawei’s factory gates is the Ascend Mate 7; a device that has been spotted in the headlines more often than not lately, sporting a 6.1-inch display and promising an all-metal unibody. There are also numerous reasons to believe that the Mate 7 will take advantage of a fingerprint sensor (the invites have pretty much confirmed it), and earlier today a handful of leaked images added even more weight to this possibility. Take a look below and join us after the break for more details.
Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Surfaces in Leaked Pics
The images you see above and below have surfaced via the Chinese social network known as Weibo, and according to the source, the main subject in these shots is none other than the Huawei Ascend Mate 7. It doesn’t take an eagle eye to figure out that the smartphone is wrapped in a protective case to prevent prying eyes from figuring out the final design, but the cutouts on the back panel reveal the smartphone’s main camera which is accompanied by an LED flash, as well as a fingerprint sensor.
While it’s impossible to determine the smartphone’s final looks from these photos alone, the dimensions and placement of the camera module, the flash and the fingerprint scanner are the same as they were on a previously leaked aluminum unibody shell believed to belong to the Huawei Ascend Mate 7.
As for the smartphone’s hardware specifications, the Mate 7 already made an appearance in AnTuTu’s database, where it revealed a 6.1-inch 1080p display, a powerful Kirin 920 processor and an ARM Mali-T624 MP4 graphics chip. Stay tuned for more.
