iPhone 5 Jailbreak: Progress Being Made, Still Not There Yet

by Mihai Matei on October 23, 2012

The iPhone 5 has been launched in the US about a month ago so in case you happen to own one and you’re eagerly waiting for the possibility of jailbreaking your brand new Apple smartphone, then you should be glad to find out that the developer community has just made a big step towards achieving this goal.

iPhone 5 Jailbreak – Devs Hard at Work

The Chronic Dev Team seems to have been hard at work with jailbreaking the latest iPhone 5 and as it turns out, progress has been made, but unfortunately, we’re not quite there yet. More details below.

iPhone 5 Jailbreak: Progress Being Made, Still Not There Yet

To keep the long story short, the Chronic Dev Team managed to jailbreak the Apple’s latest flagship phone, which is some pretty good news. The bad news is that the process requires a developer account.

This means that at this point there’s no way for the average iPhone 5 user to benefit from the feature, but clearly things are moving in the right direction and although the new hardware and software used in the latest Apple smartphone are slowing down the process, we’re glad to know that progress has been made and that sooner or later iPhone 5 owners will have the option of jailbreaking their beloved smartphone if they so desire.

This might also interest those that would like to own an iPhone 5 but are not so keen on the idea of being limited solely to the Apple experience.

We’re going to keep an eye out and we hope that the developer community will soon deliver even greater news in the near future. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted.

Thanks Techradar for the heads-up regarding the iPhone 5 Jailbreak progress.
