The launch date of the Google Nexus 7 draws near and I’m sure most of you are really excited about the tablet’s arrival. However, the Nexus 7 is not the only tablet of its kind because Amazon is also planning on launching the Kindle Fire 2 this summer, which will be a direct competitor to the Nexus 7.
Kindle Fire 2 Release Date
Roughly a week ago we brought you news concerning the Kindle’s whereabouts and we’ve talked a bit about the expected, but unofficial release date of the tablet. Back then CNET’s sources were claiming that the Fire 2 will hit the shelves in the US on July 31st. Unfortunately, judging by the latest rumors, the launch of the device might happen a bit later than predicted.

Kindle Fire 2 Release Date: A Bit Later Than Predicted ?
Word around the camp(Fire) is that the 7-inched Kindle will in fact ship in the US on August 7th. This bit of information comes from Amazon’s manufacturing partners located in Southeast Asia and the announcement has been made public via China Times.
That’s rather unfortunate and if this information turns out to be correct, the launch of the Kindle Fire 2 will basically happen roughly one month after the Nexus 7 will hit the market. That’s quite a window of opportunity for both Google and Asus to push as many units as possible, and will definitely decrease the Kindle Fire 2 sales numbers.
However, 8.9 and 10 inch versions of the Kindle tablet are expected to hit the market later this year, which will definitely give Amazon the upper hand, at least from one perspective, and of course if the price is as low as we hope.
We’re going to keep an eye on Amazon’s Kindle Fire 2 and its release date and we hope that we won’t be forced to wait longer than expected. What about you guys? Were you planning on grabbing Amazon’s tablet instead of the Nexus 7, and has the new rumored launch date affected your decision? Let us know.
Thanks PocketNow for the heads-up regarding the Kindle Fire 2 release date.
