Report: LG G3 Release Date Scheduled For May, QHD Display In Tow

by Mihai Matei on January 17, 2014

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is closing in on its release date, and according to the latest reports, the handset’s launch will not be brought forward. Instead, the SGS5 will be unveiled and released in similar timeframes as its predecessor – the Galaxy S4.

However, it appears that not every smartphone manufacturer will keep to its regular release schedule, and LG might make some drastic changes in this regard. Last year, the Korean manufacturer released the Optimus G Pro in April, and the LG G2 in September. One would expect that the LG G3 will be launched in September 2014, with the rumored LG G Pro 2 hitting the shelves around April. This, however, might not be the case at all. Join us below and find out more about LG’s alleged plans.

LG G3 Release Date Scheduled for May?

According to the Korean media and their “industry sources”, LG will supposedly release the LG G3 in May. The handset in question is said to pack a QHD display (1440 x 2560 resolution). Apparently, LG might’ve made this drastic change in its launch schedule in order to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S5. The company hopes that it will manage to bring in some profits before the market is once again saturated by tons of top-tier, QHD screen packing devices.

But what will happen with the LG G Pro 2? The handset was expected to fill the spot until the G3 would hit the shelves in the second half of the year. Well, the same source claims that the device in question will still go on sale before the G3, and it will do so in February. The G Pro 2 is also expected to feature a display resolution of 1440 x 2560.

Whether or not these reports turn out to be true remains to be seen. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait for too long before we find out. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted.
