Although the LG G3 is an extremely fresh device that hasn’t yet seen the light of day on the international market, the handset in question is selling like hotcakes in its homeland, achieving 100K sales in just 5 days from launch. With a successful smartphone such as the G3, LG is now most likely thinking about the next best device it could release, and lately we’ve come across numerous reports concerning the company’s possible future line-up.
Interestingly enough, today we’ve stumbled across reports suggesting that the Korean tech giant might actually plan on releasing an LG G3 variant sometime next month, boasting a more powerful CPU and faster download speeds. Sounds familiar? Well, either way, you’ll find the rest of the story right after the break.
LG G3 Variant with Snapdragon 805 to be Launched in July?
Earlier today, the Korean media reported that LG is currently working on a new G3 variant, which will take advantage of a Snapdragon 805 SoC, as opposed to the Snapdragon 801 chipset which can be found in the already released model. In addition, the device would supposedly make use of a Qualcomm MDM9635 modem, or the same unit that has been rumored to be employed by the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. In theory, the MDM9635 would allow the smartphone to reach download speeds of up to 225 Mbps, if the network allows it.
This sounds an awful lot like a “Prime” variant on the LG G3, which makes sense considering the fact that the Korean tech giant has recently filed several monikers for trademarking, including the “G Prime“.
The source of this rumor also suggests that, other than the new chipset, the so called LG G3 Prime will feature the same specs and features like the “regular” version.
Whatever the case, the source suggests that this new handset boasting an SD 805 SoC will be launched in July, so if these speculations come to pass, then we’re going to learn all there is to know about this smartphone rather soon. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you up to speed as the story develops.
