Right now, the people in charge with Sony mobile department’s direction and strategy must be feeling pretty good about themselves. As all of you are probably aware of, Sony was, for a pretty long time, the only major smartphone and tablet manufacturer whose flagship products were both dust and waterproof. And we’re not talking about spin-offs of the aforementioned flagships (a la the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active). Nope, Sony saw there is an audience for water and dustproof devices outside of Japan, and decided to make all of its flagship smartphones and tablets dust/water-proof by default.
But why would they be proud right now? Well, because imitation is the best form of flattery, and because Samsung, without a question, the most important player in the mobile market, announced that the “regular” version of Samsung Galaxy S5 will be featuring the above-mentioned two traits. But Samsung is not the only other major company to jump on the water and dustproof bandwagon. Nope, according to the latest reports, LG will do the same with its upcoming flagship. Join us after the break for more.
According to the Korean media, LG now believes that the waterproof and dustproof features are among the key traits of a 2014 flagship smartphone, and as such, the company has decided that its next high-end device, the LG G3, will boast such capabilities.
Beside making the LG G3 both water and dustproof, LG is also said to be considering fingerprint and eye recognition for its upcoming flagship. Other rumored LG G3 specs are a QHD display (1440 x 2560 resolution) and the long rumored in-house developed SoC – the LG Odin.
