If you own an LG Optimus 2X, chances are you decided not to care too much about the promised Ice Cream Sandwich update and probably tried out some custom ROM by now. On the other hand, those of you who are still waiting for the LG Optimus 2X Android 4.0 ICS update might be a bit disappointed by how things are starting to develop in LG’s backyard.
As you may recall, back in November 2011 LG made a strong statement that every rumor concerning ICS being canceled on the Optimus 2X are flat-out lies and that they are in fact in the process of planning the update on the Optimus 2X and other LG devices.
We haven’t heard much about their plans since, but Android 4.0 was supposed to roll-out before the end of Q2 this year and, since it didn’t happen, LG Singapore announced that Ice Cream Sandwich will not hit the waves until Q3 this year. That however might not be the case.

As you might recall, back in May I was quite skeptical about LG Singapore’s statement and I personally started to think that the update will not hit the waves at all. At that time I felt that the manufacturer is in fact not working on the update at all and that the only thing they’re doing is stalling for time.
Unfortunately, my fears have pretty much been confirmed. Whether or not the manufacturer ever worked on bringing ICS on the LG Optimus 2X remains a mystery, but what isn’t a mystery is the fact that LG has recently announced via their LG Canada Twitter page that the Optimus 2X will not be receiving the ICS upgrade after all.

We’re not really sure what this “general statement issued from HQ” means, but it’s very, very sad when after months of waiting for the update the company is still hiding behind meaningless words and continues to pass the ball around from one branch to the other.
The saddest part however is that even if they will make a new statement, claiming that ICS will roll-out in Q3, people will have a hard time believing them and when you lose the trust of your customers that’s bad news…
We’ll keep you posted as soon as the story develops, but evidently, don’t get your hopes up.
