After hearing a number of leaks and rumors in regards to LG updating their smartphone lineup to Android 4.0, it seems that we are on to something here. The manufacturer has already confirmed LG Optimus 2X (T-Mobile G2x) Android 4 update a while back and recently has announced that most devices will be getting the much anticipated update to the latest flavor of Android. The case seems to be more than confirmed for the LG Optimus 3D (AT&T’s LG Thrill) as well as the LG Optimus Black which will get Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich in Q3 2012!

It has been a while since the manufacturer announced that it will be bringing Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich to some of its devices yet now it is as official as it gets. We even have a release window for the much anticipated update.
As such, the LG Optimus 3D as well as the LG Optimus Black will be getting the Android 4 update sometime in the 3rd quarter of 2012. That means that the two devices could expect to get the latest version of the OS starting with July in a best case scenario. However, don’t make that your “go-to” date as the update could come as late as September.

Although there’s quite a long waiting period for the updates to arrive, I feel that it’s still better than no update, but if you can’t wait and aren’t the patient type (I know I am not) then checking out some of the custom ROM solutions might be the thing for you. Until that time comes however, make sure to stay tuned as we’ll keep you updated!
