LG Optimus VU USA Release Date Scheduled For Q3 – Verizon To Adopt It ?

Although the LG Optimus VU has been launched for quite some time now, it’s understandable if some of you haven’t heard about it because the device was, and still is, limited to the Asian market. Lately however, the LG Optimus VU has shown up in some leaks indicating that the device should become available in the US as well, a strategy that will clearly increase the device’s popularity worldwide.

Nevertheless there was nothing official regarding US release date up to this point, but fortunately, the manufacturer has recently spilled the beans and announced that the Optimus VU really is planned for a US launch. Apparently LG has recently declared that the Optimus VU is heading towards US and that the device should be available for purchase during Q3. That being said, within one month and a half the VU should hit the shelves and those of you interested in buying the device will get the chance to do so.

Despite all that, no US carrier has made any announcements as to whether or not they’re interested in subsidizing LG’s Optimus VU, but our best guess here is Verizon because previous leaks have shown a VU handset wearing Big Red’s branding. Nevertheless, until the carrier steps forward and confirms that it will indeed offer the VU in the US, nothing is certain so we’ll have to keep an eye out for new info regarding the matter.

Now that the release timeframe of the VU has been narrowed there’s one big question that pops in everyone’s mind: Will the Optimus VU be any better or will it stand any chance against the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 2?

Well, to be honest, we’ve previously compared the VU with the original Note and we came to the conclusion that the VU might not become as successful as the Samsung device to begin with, but it might sell better at Verizon than the Note would if it would’ve been available at Big Red, simply because the VU is a more exclusive device, whereas the Note is not.

However, competing against the Note 2 is a whole different story and since word around the campfire is that the Note 2 will introduce some pretty revolutionary tech,I fear the worse for the VU if the release date keeps moving forward.

We’ll need to wait and see how the story develops, but the sooner the VU hits the market the better. We’ll keep you posted.
