LG Viper at Sprint – Release Date, Specs – Overview

by Catalin on January 17, 2012

The Consumer Electronics Show is one of the best periods of the year for new releases in terms of devices as well as updates to existing devices. It’s the time of year in which manufacturers are showing off their latest innovations and it’s, simply put, the best period for anyone looking to get a new device and start enjoying some smartphone and multimedia goodness. LG doesn’t wish to remain behind the crowd, seeing as Samsung is releasing the Galaxy S2 SkyRocket HD, Sony is putting out the Xperia Ion and the Xperia S, so let’s take a look at the LG Viper at Sprint.

LG Viper

LG’s Viper is coming to Sprint soon with 4G LTE connectivity on board, a 4 inch WVGA (that’s 480 x 800 pixels) NOVA display, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and a 5 MP camera on the back along with a front-facing VGA shooter.

We’ll also get NFC, Google Wallet and HotSpot capabilities for it all in one small package.

I know a device with a 4 inch display isn’t exactly small to begin with, but seeing the flurry of 4+ inch devices, this is rather smallish. LG’s Viper is shipping with Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box and we are hoping to see Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich being brought to it shortly.

If that’s not the case, the device doesn’t have much to show for really compared to the competition, but if Sprint and LG set the pricing right for this baby, then we might have an excellent mid-level device here.

LG Viper Release Date at Sprint

For the time being we don’t have a specific release date for the LG Viper but Sprint said that more details will become available as we draw in on that date. However, we don’t really see this device hitting shelves any later than the end of February.

With the LG Viper coming shortly the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will have a companion on Sprint’s 4G LTE network, so if you are looking for a quick device on Sprint, you are in luck! Stay tuned for more!
