Microsoft Surface 2 RT – Release Date and Price Info (Latest Rumors)

by Mihai Matei on May 24, 2013

The Microsoft Surface series has been somewhat of a hit-and-miss. Both the RT and the Pro models have generated a lot of mixed opinions regarding not only the operating system or hardware specs, but also about pricing, and of course, battery life.

Nevertheless, it appears that Microsoft intends on launching the second generation of Surface tablets, and judging by what the rumors have suggested so far, the company might steer the series into a different direction. But what about availability? When will we get to see a new Microsoft tablet hitting the shelves? Well, there’s no way to be sure right now, but the rumors are pretty positive.

Microsoft Surface 2 RT – Release Date and Price (Rumors)

Not long ago we’ve reported that there are basically two sets of rumors circulating on the web, in regards to the next MS slate. Some sources have previously claimed that the next Surface tablet will be unveiled this summer, while analysts have predicted that the next Microsoft slate will not see the light of day until sometime next year.

Apparently this won’t be the case, as new reports from Digitimes are claiming that a second-generation of Surface RT tablets is set to hit the market in June.

The Surface 2 RT will allegedly pack an 8 inch display, and as far as pricing goes, the gadget will supposedly set you back somewhere between $250 and $300.

Other hardware specs are currently unknown, but we might see a display resolution of 1400 x 1050 on this 8-incher.

In any case, these new whispers are placing the Surface 2′s release roughly one month from now, so if this time-frame is correct then more details are bound to surface soon (no pun intended).

Thanks Pocket Now for the heads-up regarding the Microsoft Surface 2 RT.
