Microsoft Surface – Release Date Guide

With Android 4.1 Jelly Bean pretty much stealing the spotlight when it comes to smartphone operating systems, Windows 8 is preparing to make a big splash this October, boasting a new and (more or less) innovative user interface for both PC and Tablet users.

We already talked a bit about what to expect from the Metro UI introduced by/in Windows 8, and we’ve also pointed out that at least one Microsoft Surface tablet might get released shortly after Windows 8 will hit the scene this autumn. Microsoft Surface Release Date

As you may recall, we’ve reported that the official Microsoft Windows 8 OS release date is scheduled for October 26th. Nevertheless, at that time we were still wondering when exactly the new Surface line of tablets will hit the scene and fair enough, the company has made an official announcement regarding the matter.

Bottom line, if you’re a Microsoft Surface enthusiast and would like to give one a try as soon as it hits the market you should be pleased to learn that the devices in question will hit the shelves on the same date as the new Windows operating system: October 26th.

However, keep in mind that not all the Surface tablets will be available at the same time. In fact the one we’re certain about is the Windows RT tablet powered by an ARM processor. The Pro version on the other hand, wich will come equipped with an Intel x86 CPU, will be available a bit later, roughly 90 days after the launch of Windows 8. That’s either right on time with the holidays or after the New Year’s Eve.

Microsoft Surface Price Tag

Now that we got part of the release date problem out of the way the question about pricing remains. Unfortunately Microsoft has not revealed any concrete information regarding the matter but they have pointed out that it the Surface will have a price comparable with other ARM powered tablets or an Intel Ultrabook-class PC. That pretty much dispels initial rumors about Surface pricing.

The company also mentioned that price-tags will be made available closer to launch. We’ll keep an eye out on the Surface and we’ll keep you posted as soon as the story develops. Stay tuned!
