After weeks and months of keeping our eyes on the Motorola Droid RAZR HD, the device in question is still shrouded in a thick layer of mystery, especially if we’re talking about its release date. So far we’ve been able to gather information about the device’s specifications and some time ago we came to the conclusion that the RAZR HD is one of the handsets to look forward to.
Nevertheless, the question remains “how much longer should we look forward to?” because, despite the fact that we’ve considered the RAZR HD a worthy opponent to the One X and the Samsung Galaxy S3, if Motorola delays the launch of their upcoming flagship phone longer, that comparison will become irrelevant.
Well there are some new rumors that surfaced on the blogosphere concerning the RAZR HD’s launch date and we can’t say we like where this story is going.
Motorola Droid RAZR HD Release Date
According to a “very reliable source” from Hot Hardware, the Droid RAZR HD will not see the light of day until October. That’s rather disappointing to begin with because, as you may already be aware of, October will most likely be the month in which the iPhone 5 will be released and if Apple’s upcoming handset will be as good as they say, the Motorola RAZR HD won’t stand a chance and will be eclipsed by the iPhone. Besides, the HTC One X+/XXL is also expected to be launched by the end of the year, so once again we get the feeling the RAZR HD might launch a bit too late.
What’s more is that this source also mentioned that a RAZR MAXX HD will be released during the same time-frame. We’ve previously wondered if a MAXX version of the HD is also in the works when we found out that the RAZR HD will pack a “not MAXX” battery. Well, this latest rumor is not something I’d call a confirmation but the possibility for a MAXX HD is getting bigger at this point.
Last but not least, the source from Hot Hardware has mentioned that the actual release date of the RAZR HD and MAXX HD also depends on how the original RAZR and RAZR MAXX sells until fall. This is an awkward statement to say the least, mainly because these two handsets are not really that fresh to be honest. They’re roughly one year old and I’m pretty sure they aren’t selling like hotcakes anymore.
That pretty much sums it all up. Although anything is possible take this information with a pinch of salt. We’ll keep you posted, in the meantime feel free to share your thoughts with us.
