Motorola Photon Q at Sprint: Release Date Coming Really Soon ?

by Catalin on August 9, 2012

We recently covered the first news surrounding the Motorola Photon Q over at Sprint and from the first few looks, I fell in love with it. Our older readers might know that I am a sucker for physical keyboards, since I still haven’t figured out how to get any proper use from any on-screen keyboards. For those of you who love these slide-out devices, stick around to find out the Motorola Photon Q release date at Sprint!

Motorola Photon Q Release Date at Sprint

The news comes via the fine folks at Android Central. According to some sources from the carrier, the Photon Q will be reaching Sprint stores starting with Sunday, August 19th. Note that such rumors are not necessarily a confirmation of the launch of the device on said date, but it can give us a rough approximation to work with.

Despite the inside information, neither Sprint or Motorola have commented on this and are still not giving away any solid information regarding the release date of the Photon Q. The inside source claims that training for the device has already started at Sprint, which means that the release date is indeed very close.

For those of you who love physical keyboards on your smartphone, the Motorola Photon Q has a few tricks up its sleeves. For starters you get a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor (we don’t know what CPU but our fingers are crossed for the Snapdragon S4), 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of built-in storage with a microSD card slot, a 4.3-inch TFT display with a resolution of 540 x 960.

In a day and age where everyone boasts 720p displays on their flagships, the Motorola Photon Q seems a little bit outdated. However, you do get an 8 MP rear-facing camera and a 1.3 MP front-facing shooter. There is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, DLNA and HDMI connectivity to go around.

Throw in the fact that the upcoming Motorola Photon Q will ship with 4G LTE connectivity and a very good-looking slide-out keyboard, I think we are onto a winner here. If the pricing is right, Motorola and Sprint could make some money with this one. Interested? Let us know in the comments below!

Thanks Android Central for letting us know about the rumored Motorola Photon Q release date at Sprint.

Very interested! Been missing my slide out keyboard since I upgraded from the Samsung Galaxy S to the Motorola Photon, like the phone just terrible with the on screen keyboard typing!
