As the rumored BlackBerry PlayBook release date approaches RIM’s tablet is getting more and more interesting and if you happened to attend at Mobile World Congress this year you definitely know why. Those of you that didn’t get to witness MWC 2011 should know that the guys at The Astonishing Tribe ( which is now part of RIM ) have developed a series of apps that take full advantage of the BlackBerry PlayBook specs and trust us, will blow you away.
First off we have an application that uses the HDMI port found on the BlackBerry PlayBook coupled with an external display on which a user interface is projected ( along with a 3D media viewer ). The PlayBook itself acts like a cursor and is handled by one of its cores while the UI is powered by the second processor core.
The next app to take advantage of the BlackBerry PlayBook specs is a scrapbook that offers you many ways to add a personal touch to the photos stored on your tablet ( e.g. adding a thought balloon or a sticker ). You can also rotate or resize your pictures and then upload them to Facebook.
The third app to hit the BlackBerry PlayBook is the Frontrunner – a multimedia management app, all in 3D, that can easily take on multiple touch inputs at once.
Take a look at a two videos featuring the BlackBerry PlayBook apps below:
As I’ve said before, all these apps fully take advantage of the BlackBerry PlayBook specs as they run without a hitch at 60 FPS ( which is the maximum speed ). I’m sure that many of you will like these apps and will be hoping to see them after the BlackBerry PlayBook release date that will take place in March or April ( according to rumors ).
Unfortunately, the apps showcased here are concepts at the moment, but if this is the stuff the guys at TAT can pull out of their sleeve, the BlackBerry PlayBook will have a brilliant future and maybe RIM should give them more support and freedom. After all, developers seem to find the tablet pretty attractive as the BlackBerry PlayBook is said to be sporting around four thousand apps when it will be released.
What do you guys think about the BlackBerry PlayBook apps from TAT ? Would you want to hear more from them or at least to get these apps after the BlackBerry PlayBook release date arrives ?
In the meantime you should also familiarize yourself with BlackBerry’s PlayBook 4 different profiles.
Many thanks to IntoMobile for providing us with this exciting news about the BlackBerry PlayBook.
