I’m a simple man, a man who likes changes ( I have that in common with the most powerful man on the planet ) and a man who likes his smartphones powerful and customizable. I don’t need “pwetty” colors or flying annoyed birds ( although they sometimes help ) but I need power – raw, brutish power. That’s why I enjoyed the LG Optimus 2X when it first came, that’s why I enjoyed the Motorola Atrix 4G and that’s why I love the Samsung Galaxy S2. But the problem which I had with all of them was that I didn’t get a clean Android experience. I like that. I don’t need any fancy manufacturer UI to play around with, I just want my droid, reason for which I am happy to announce the upcoming Google Nexus Prime or Google Nexus S 4G.
The reason for which the name is still a touch on the shaky side is that there is no official confirmation in this regard, yet sources at BGR have been waving around the name-tag of Google Nexus Prime. Whatever the case may be, there seem to be some slipped details here and there, so let’s get into the heart of the matter. As such, the rumored specs for the upcoming Google Nexus Prime ( or Google Nexus S 4G ) are a dual-core 1.5 GHz CPU along with a full 720p display ( that would mean a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels folks ).
That 720p display which is rumored to come for the upcoming Google Nexus Prime is going to be a Super AMOLED model, aimed at the high definition market. For those who might not know any 1.5 GHz dual-core smartphone CPU, just check out the mighty TI OMAP 4460, which is a dual-core A9 clocked at the mighty 1.5 GHz frequency ( per core ). The same chipset is equipped with the PowerVR SGX540 graphics chipset, to assure top of the notch performance. Considering these two elements which have been rumored by a number of sources, you could say that we are dealing here with a true super phone, yet that’s not all. Because of the Super AMOLED nature of the display, the manufacturer will be Samsung ( if the rumors are true that is ).
The rumored Google Nexus Prime is supposedly the first device which will also introduce the following installment of the Android operating system, that is Ice Cream Sandwich. This would mean that for those of you who enjoy raw power and a clean operating system, you’ll have them both in a nice and tidy package. Now BGR ( the main source of most of these rumors ) is also claiming that Google might even coordinate a release of the Google Nexus Prime across a wide variety of carriers and networks, making the device available to more users while at the same time celebrating the update of their operating system with a device to symbol its progress.
However, that last part is heavily sitting in the rumor corner, so we’ll have to wait and see, despite that I would be the first one in line to get my hands on that device. We’ll have to keep our eyes on this one, so make sure to check back and stay tuned for more !
