For HTC Desire Z owners, the wait is almost over. If you were concerned HTC forgot about the Gingerbread update, then have no worries. Even if the Taiwanese based company didn’t manage to keep it’s word about the Android 2.3 update arriving before the end of June, the delay was probably caused by some pesky bugs. If you remember, they said that the HTC Desire Z Android 2.3 Gingerbread update will be released in June because the screen resolution is different and it was giving them headaches. So this extra delay is probably due to the same cause.
Anyway, we all know HTC has a lot of phones waiting for some Gingerbread action, so let’s cut them some slack, shall we ?
The good news was brought to us by the Romanian Facebook page of HTC. This is not the first time Romanian folks have the privilege of Android 2.3. If you recall, the LG Optimus One also got it’s first piece of Gingerbread in the same country. It looks like the HTC Desire Z update is in the final stages of testing and the update roll-out will begin in the following weeks. Also, they’ve stated that the HTC Desire Z Android 2.3 Gingerbread update will be launched in different periods depending on the carrier ( damn bloatware ! ), but everyone should be enjoying it by the end of July.
No official word on its American sibling yet, but considering T-Mobile accidentally sent a lucky few customers a Gingerbread equipped T-Mobile G2 a while ago, we can expect them to update the phone in the same period.
