Like most of our Vibrant owning friends know, the Samsung Vibrant Android 2.2 update will start rolling out today ( according to the T-Mobile USA Chief Marketing Officer – Cole Brodman ) so that should put to an end the rumor according to which the “Samsung Vibrant Android 2.2 update was deliberately pushed back in order to prevent the Samsung Vibrant 4G from losing its value“.
Ok now that we settled that, some of you might be asking about the Samsung Vibrant 4G release date. Well, according to a leaked screenshot, the updated version of the Vibrant should be available for purchasing on February 23rd. Check it out below.
In term of specs, the Samsung Vibrant 4G doesn’t differ that much from the original. It will come with HSPA+ support ( 21Mbps as opposed to myTouch 4G’s and T-Mobile G2′s 14.4Mbps – the carrier’s speediest phones to date ), a front facing camera and an updated version of Android.
If at first it was rumored that Samsung Vibrant 4G will come with Android 2.2, a recent leak shows the handset running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
On the official side of things, T-Mobile USA CEO Philipp Humm has recently confirmed the existence of both the Samsung Vibrant 4G and the Sidekick 4G but nothing more was revealed on the phones specs, operating system, pricing and so on.
Humm also stated that T-Mobile will release in 2011 25 new smartphones that will take advantage of the carrier’s HSPA+ network. Also T-Mobile has plans of improving the HSPA+ service in order for the network to achieve the maximum theoretical speeds ( 42Mbps ) by the end of 2011. T-Mobile plans to bump the speeds even higher, all the way through 84Mbps, in 2012. Kind of cool ain’t it?
Thanks TMONews for letting us know about the rumored Samsung Vibrant 4G release date.
