Sad news guys: according to some rumors floating around, the Motorola Droid Bionic has been canceled. We are not talking about some Motorola Droid Bionic release date delay rumor…according to some insiders the phone will never see the light of day.
If this will indeed happen ( for the time being you should treat this as a rumor and nothing else ) we’ll be really disappointed as it’s no secret that the G4Games & Gadgets collective has been really appreciative of the Droid Bionic since it has been announced at CES 2011. And for good reason as it seemed ( and until some official statement will be released it still seems ) that this smartphone will be one the best 4G LTE enabled one from Verizon’s lineup, at war with the Samsung Galaxy S2 ( Motorola Droid X2 will most likely not support 4G LTE, contrary to some leaks ) – dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 at 1 GHz, 512 MB of DDR2 RAM and so on ( for more in-depth info check out our Motorola Droid Bionic Overview and a side by side with Samsung Galaxy S2 ).
Also the same tipsters ( or insiders, however you want to call them ) are pointing towards the possibility of Motorola Droid Bionic being replaced with Motorola Targa. We the exception of a leaked photo Targa has not showed itself to the public. And as far as a launch date goes, while according to some leaks the Motorola Droid Bionic release date was scheduled for May, it’s highly unlikely that Motorola Targa will hit shelves so soon.
Again if this rumor turns out to be true and Motorola Droid Bionic has indeed been canceled a lot of people will be disappointed as, like our comparisons with Motorola Atrix 4G, HTC Thunderbolt and Samsung Droid Charge have pointed out, this phone looked capable of being a superstar in the smartphone world.
Now, you have probably seen the leaked Verizon comparison charts that are putting Samsung Droid Charge, HTC Thunderbolt, Samsung Fascinate, Motorola Droid 2 and iPhone 4 side by side. A lot of people have taken this as proof that Motorola Droid Bionic won’t be seeing the light of day anymore. That’s BULL. Why would Verizon compare a bunch of single core powered smartphones with a powerhouse like Motorola Droid Bionic? It also worth pointing out that neither Samsung Galaxy S2 is present on that list. Does that means that S2 has been canceled also ? We don’t think so.
Anyway we’ll update you as soon as we’ll hear more regarding the Motorola Droid Bionic.
