With the rumored Motorola Xoom release date quickly approaching a lot of people are anxiously waiting for this killer tablet ( hit the link – BlackBerry PlayBook, Dell Streak 7 or Apple iPad don’t stand a chance spec-wise ).
Also i know many that were hoping that the rumored Motorola Xoom price tag will turn out to be just that – a rumor. Unfortunately, the $799.99 nightmare has just become a reality as Sanjay Jha ( Motorola mobility’s chairman and CEO ) has stated for Reuters that Motorola Xoom will sell “for an unsubsidized $799 at Verizon Wireless“.

Official: Motorola Xoom Price Tags (+WiFi Version) Confirmed - Rumored Release Date: Feb 24
Ok, after hearing the news a lot of you have surely thought “no biggie, i’ll wait for the WiFi only Motorola Xoom, it has to be a lot cheaper than that.” I don’t know if $200 means a lot for you, but the WiFi only version will indeed be cheaper as Sanjay Jha stated that its price will revolve somewhere around $600.
It would have been nice for Motorola Mobility’s boss to confirm, once and for all, the rumored Motorola Xoom release date, or any release date for that matter just so we won’t have to keep guessing.
Wait…you thought that the Feb 24 launch date was set in stone? Yeah, just like the Motorola Xoom pre-sale campaign started today. HINT: It didn’t.
So one one hand we have the awesome Motorola Xoom specs and on the other a whooping $799.99 price tag ( thank God that the $1200 rumor was just Bull ). Is it worth it ? The only Motorola Xoom benchmark that has surfaced probably won’t help anyone make a decision. Will you trust your gut ? Or rather wait for more in-depth reviews, benchmarks and so on ?
Thanks UK.Reuters for letting us know the official word on the Motorola Xoom price tag.
