Rumor: Nokia C7 To Arrive At T-Mobile As The “Tiger” – Release Date: Late March

by Vlad Andrici on March 11, 2011

While everybody is talking about the Nokia and Microsoft deal ( Nokia got $1 billion dollars from the Redmond giant in order to release Windows Phone 7 powered phones ), the Finnish manufacturer is making what is probably one of its final attempts to plant its feet in the US market with one of their Symbian^3 devices – the Nokia C7.

Rumor has it that Nokia C7 will arrive at T-Mobile this month under the “Tiger” moniker ( probably just a codename ).

Nokia has always claimed that the US market is very important for the company but we’ve never seen those words and statements actually being backed up by facts. And now that even Europe ( Nokia’s traditional playground ) it’s under heavy Android domination, Nokia really needs to step up its game.

Is the T-Mobile Nokia C7 Tiger launch a step in the right direction ? ( if this rumor is true, of course ).

Nokia C7 “Tiger” Specs

Powered by a 680 MHz ARM 11 processor ( coupled with a Broadcom BCM2727 GPU ), Nokia C7 features a 3.5 inch ( 360 x 640 ) AMOLED display, 256 MB RAM, 8GB of internal storage ( expandable up to 32 GB via microSD ) and an 8 MP camera with dual LED flash and 720p HD video recording capability.

Now i don’t know how smart would be for Nokia to release C7 in US in a time when dual core smartphones are beginning to be the norm. Some users are even downplaying the 1 GHz single-core smartphones ( like the oft delayed HTC Thunderbolt ) and Nokia comes with a 680 Mhz CPU powered smartphone ( and 256 MB RAM ) ?

Maybe they’re trying to work their way up from entry-level smartphones ( such as Nokia C7, in this editor’s humble opinion ) and eventually release some Windows Phone 7 powerhouses ? What do you think ?

Thanks TMONews for letting us know about the rumored Nokia C7 release date on T-Mobile.

Nokia should have partnered both Android and WP7 and see what works. IF HTC can do it why not Nokia?
