Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE Release Date Scheduled For Q2 2012 ? (in Europe)

by Alin on September 9, 2011

The IFA event in Berlin this year was a very successful one, bringing a lot of new and interesting gadgets to the market. Samsung was one of the stars of the show, as they revealed the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE and Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE. The phone was already spotted in the wild under the Celox codename, and the Tab will feature the same 1.5 GHz CPU as the Galaxy S2 LTE.

While it looks like Canadian folks will be the first ones to enjoy the upgraded Samsung Galaxy S2 ( Rogers announced it will promote its extended LTE coverage by adding the Samsung Galaxy S2 to their portfolio in this fall ), unfortunately, things don’t look so bright for anyone who lives in Europe and was expecting the phone anytime soon.

The German T-Mobile reps have recently stated that the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE will not be released at T-Mobile or any other European carrier this year. Because T-Mobile’s LTE network ( and other European networks ) cannot handle voice calls right now – and will take six months to implement – the expected release date for the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE is Q2 2012. I think the phone won’t fit in the high-end section by then, but that also means a smaller price tag.

The good news comes in the tablet department, as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE is coming to T-Mobile Germany a lot more sooner than it’s 4.5-inch sibling. Big T is planning to launch the tablet in December, because it doesn’t have to deal with the voice call issue. On the other hand, the German court has already banned the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 7.7 from selling in their country courtesy of Apple, so we shouldn’t take the tablet for granted. Let’s hope Sammy’s legal team finds a way to relaunch the other two tablets on the market, or at least keep the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE available for anyone.

The guys at UnwiredView are the ones who gave us the info on the the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE release date . Thanks !
