Although it barely hit the market the T-Mobile G2X Android smartphone seems to like the news. As such, the latest information regarding it points towards an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread incoming any time now really. Despite that, it’s still unsure as to we will be enjoying the update in a few days, weeks or even months, as in this industry the term “soon” might very well mean the following quarter. As for how official this announcement is, we’ve gotten it straight from T-Mobile, which trough their Twitter account officially announced this.
The T-Mobile G2X was launched on the 15th of April on T-Mobile’s online store and has been getting positive reviews ever since it came out back in December in Korea. We are obviously not talking about the T-Mobile version of it, but of the original LG Optimus 2X. The specs of the phone sure manage to set it into a class of its own as you will be getting a 4 inch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 dual-core processor clocked at 1 GHz per core as well as 512 MB of RAM. For the media enthusiast amongst you, the G2X comes with an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p full HD recording.
T-Mobile’s G2X can be picked up for a ridiculously low price, and to be honest it almost feels like holding T-Mobile at gunpoint and taking the phone from their pockets, but then again some of you might not be too happy about signing up for another 2 years with a new carrier or maybe even adding 2 more years to your current contract.
My vote? If you plan on upgrading and don’t know what to go for, get this one as this latest news points towards an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, you’ve got plenty of power and it’s cheap as dirt. So, what are you waiting for? Stay tuned for more!
