Owning a Samsung/Google Nexus S 4G and wondering when the hell your device will get updated ? Well, we might have some good news for you as one of Engadget’s “trusted” sources confirmed that the Samsung Nexus S 4G Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich update will soon be released to the masses.

The update will also come to some Nexus S devices, which did not get updated last year in December. At that time we were happy to announce the release of the update, however, Google did not release it to all Nexus S devices (it seems there were some problems even tough we heard a lot of reports that the update is working without a hitch).

The obvious story was that the Sprint Nexus S 4G did not receive the Android 4 ICS update. However, we found out a while ago that the manufacturer and the carrier were making important progress. When Google and Sprint still stayed quiet about it, we looked at all the information we could gather on the Nexus S 4G Android 4 update.

We even went as far as setting up a quick guide to get a custom ROM running on your Samsung Nexus S 4G. With all of those things going on, the rumor coming from Google’s camp that they will release the official update in the coming weeks, did cheer me up.

If you were not sure about rooting your device and then installing a custom ROM, the Android 4 update for the Sprint Nexus S 4G is on its way. There is no specific release date for the update so far, but “in the next few weeks” is better than nothing.

The only beef I have with this is in regards to the time frame required by Google to bring out the update. The Samsung Nexus S is a more than capable device and seeing that it was made along with Google, you’d expect timely updates (that’s the whole point of the Nexus series … right ?).

Your thoughts on the matter or are you already running a custom ROM? Drop us a line and make sure to stay tuned for more!

Thanks Engadget for letting us know the rumored release window of the highly anticipated Nexus S 4G Ice Cream Sandwich update.
