Earlier this fall, OnePlus announced that due to technical difficulties in mass producing the StyleSwap covers for the OnePlus One, and because the process of switching the back covers themselves is a bit tricky, the whole concept will be put on hold until the OnePlus Two arrives. The company also revealed that a small number of Bamboo StyleSwap covers have been produced and successfully passed QA, and that these covers may eventually be sold in limited numbers alongside explicit instructions on how they should be fitted without damaging the phone, battery or the cover itself. The company also considered the possibility of launching limited edition OnePlus Ones with Kevlar and Denim covers out of the box.
We haven’t heard much on the matter ever since (OnePlus had other announcements to make in the meantime), but earlier today we came across a couple of pictures depicting a rather unique OnePlus One, presenting a yellow flavor on what appears to be Kevlar.
OnePlus One Limited Kevlar Edition Caught On Camera
The images you see above have been pulled from Weibo and needless to say, what we’re looking at appears to be a limited edition OnePlus One treated with a yellow Kevlar StyleSwap cover. As some of you might recall, earlier in May when the StyleSwap covers were first teased, Pete Lau announced that these covers will come in different textures, including Silk, Sandstone, Bamboo, Denim and of course Kevlar.
Unfortunately no other details have been shared aside from these pictures, so we can’t confirm if the images above stand as proof that the limited edition OnePlus Ones will go on sale soon, or if the source simply managed to get a hold on a yellow Kevlar StyleSwap cover through unofficial means. The OnePlus One will be available for pre-order invitation-free for a short period of time on November 17, so it would be pretty interesting if the manufacturer will prepare a few limited edition variants by then.
Whatever the case, we’re wondering if our readers would be interested in buying a Limited Edition Kevlar OnePlus One (in yellow?), so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section. As usual, we’ll keep you posted if we learn more on the matter.
