It seems like the majority of big-time smartphone manufacturers have gained a real interest in the “Mini” market, and based on the latest reports, not only Samsung and HTC are working on launching their upcoming “Mini” smartphones, but Sony is showing signs of joining the party as well – sort of.
Recently we’ve also discovered rumors suggesting that Oppo is planning on jumping on the “Mini” band-wagon as well, with a new compact version of last year’s N1 being prepped for the market.
Today we circle back to the rumored “Oppo N1 Mini”, as the manufacturer itself has just confirmed the smartphone’s existence by setting its official announcement date in stone. Check back after the break for more.
Oppo N1 Mini Officially Confirmed for a May 30th Announcement
Earlier today Oppo has hit the Chinese social media network known as “Weibo”, where the smartphone maker has confirmed that the Oppo N1 Mini will be announced on May 30. By taking a quick peek at the calendar, we realize that this brings the smartphone’s launch event only three days away from us.
While the company hasn’t made any other hardware-related details official, earlier rumors have suggested that the Oppo N1 Mini will feature a 5 inch display, and either a MediaTek MT6592 SoC or an Exynos 5422 Octa chipset. In addition, the N1 Mini will also supposedly be launched in LTE and non-LTE flavors.
Also, if we point out the obvious, based on the teaser image / press invite above, the Oppo N1 Mini will borrow the same design paradigm from the fully-fledged N1, and will feature a rotary main camera – although we suspect that the sensor will be less powerful than the flagship’s. And is that a secondary sensor? Or just an LED flash?
We’ll continue to keep an eye out on Oppo for the next following days, and hopefully the company will shed more light on what makes the N1 Mini tick ahead of the official announcement. Stick around and we’ll keep you posted.
