As you may already know, one of the most expected yet unannounced devices of the year is the next-generation Nexus smartphone. In the sea of high-end devices that promise great specs, the Nexus would stand out from the crowd simply because, as usual, it would hit the market with a brand new Android OS version and with guaranteed support for future updates.
Although nothing is certain at this point, we’ve heard quite a few rumors and speculations concerning the upcoming Nexus, some of them claiming that it will be built on the foundation of the LG Optimus G, others that claim HTC would pick up the slack in order to deliver a Google Nexus 5 phablet inspired by the HTC Droid Incredible X, and there are also the usual whispers that, once again, Samsung will deliver the next Google device.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2
We’ve previously spotted a mind-blowing Samsung device in some benchmark results but because this mysterious handset dubbed “TE4” is not giving clear indications as to whether or not it will turn out to be the upcoming Galaxy S4 or the Nexus 2, the rest of the rumors claiming that LG or HTC might take up the job of manufacturing the new Nexus gained more traction.
Now we have one more reason to speculate that Google’s upcoming flagship phone might turn out to be manufactured by Samsung.
The screenshot above depicts a listing which allegedly belongs to the UK retailer Carphone Warehouse. The main story here appears to be the presence of a 32GB Nexus 7 but what caught our attention the most is the fact that InvisiShields for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2 are also listed.
That being said, although nothing has been confirmed so far, chances are that the upcoming Nexus device will keep its “Galaxy” moniker. Then again, there’s also the possibility that this year Google might actually widen its horizons and launch the Galaxy Nexus 2, alongside the Nexus 5 and the Optimus Nexus.
Whichever the case, the next flagship device from Mountain View is definitely getting closer to its release date so stay tuned as we’ll keep you up to date as soon as the story develops.
