Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Price Tag: What Can We Expect ? Release Date: 1-7 Oct (Rumored)

by Mihai on September 9, 2012

The IFA 2012 event in Berlin has been one of the most interesting parts of this year for any gadget enthusiast, and for Android fans it’s really the place to be right now (it ends tomorrow). Tons of interesting devices have been revealed by lots of big companies and in the smartphone department we got the chance to take a look at Sony’s upcoming smartphone line-up, and at Samsung’s Windows Phone 8 – powered Ativ S, just to name a few.

Nevertheless, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was one of the most hyped devices during the past few months and the IFA show is where it all went official. We’ve previously talked about the handset’s hardware specs and we also thought it would be fun to compare it with the original Note. What we haven’t managed to report until now is the expected price, but check back after the break and we’ll finally get into it.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Price Tag

During the event, Samsung has not revealed any information concerning the price of the Note 2 but Vodafone Germany appeared to be one step ahead of the manufacturer. Besides the fact that, at Vodafone’s booth, is where the international 4G LTE Galaxy S3 variant has seen the light of day for the first time, the price-tag for the Galaxy Note 2 also emerged.

According to Vodafone Germany, the flagship phablet will be sold at the price of €639.90 without a contract, which roughly translates to £508 or $804. That’s for the 16 GB version. Although the US price should be notably lower simply because smartphones and consumer electronics tend to have a lower price in the US, the UK price tag of £508 might be closer to reality than we’d like.

One thing we should mention is the fact that the list above shows a 5 MP camera and a resolution of 1280 x 800. Now before you ask, that’s not really what the Note 2 offers for that price and it’s just a typo (yes, typos are quite common at events such as these). Actually, the Note 2 has the same 8 MP camera found on the Galaxy S3 and a display with a resolution of 1280 x 720.

As for when we’ll get to see the Note 2 on shelves, word around the campfire is that the gadget will hit the UK mobile market during the 1st-7th of October timeslot.

On the other hand, the US launch is a whole different story and according to Samsung the Note 2 will not follow in the footsteps of its predecessor when it comes to the device’s release on US soil.

Stay tuned and feel free to share your thoughts concerning the price.

Thanks Android Central for the heads-up regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 price tag.
