The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has been released in the US and on the international market more than a month ago but Verizon has been a latecomer and launched the Samsung phablet on its network just over a week ago. Besides the fact that the release has been delayed and the pre-order stage lasted for about a month, there’s yet another small issue with Verizon’s Note 2 that keeps annoying many enthusiasts, mainly the fact that it sports Big Red’s logo on the home button.
Nevertheless, that particular problem can be fixed with a nice aluminum sticker, but there’s yet another issue that needs to be addressed, and this time around it’s a software-related shortcoming.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 at Verizon
One of the most awesome features offered by the Note 2 and its TouchWiz user interface is the Multi Window view, an app that enables true multitasking on the device and allows you to open two different applications at a time, in a split-screen environment.
However, Multi Window has not been made available out of the box and the international model, as well as Sprint’s version, had to undergo a software update that included the aforementioned feature (T-Mobile’s and AT&T’s models are still waiting).
The good news about Verizon’s delayed Note 2 is the fact that it arrived with Multi Window out of the box, but there’s a catch. Unfortunately, the app is not as “complete” as it is on the other Note 2 models that already received the update, which means that the Multi Window feature on Verizon’s phablet can’t run particular third party apps like Gmail and YouTube.
Customers have obviously contacted Samsung and asked for clarification, and in turn, the manufacturer has announced, via its Twitter account, that an update containing an improved Multi Window app will be available soon. Hopefully that doesn’t mean another month or so of waiting.
We’ll keep you posted as soon as the story develops, but in the meantime you could try to apply the Multi Window Mod we’ve previously talked about.
Thanks Droid Life for the heads-up regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 at Verizon and its Multi Window update.
