Samsung Galaxy Note To Appeal To The Ladies – Release Date: Nov 17th

by Catalin Mengheris on October 16, 2011

In case you have been a smartphone user for a few years now, you might’ve noticed that manufacturers are giving them increasingly larger displays. I still remember the first time we’ve seen a 4 inch display come into the fray, in a market covered by 3.5 and 3.7 inch devices. Not to mention the fact that the largest display you can find on a RIM smartphone is 3.7 up to this day. So obviously, people were a little bit intrigued when it came to the Samsung Galaxy Note which comes with a 5.37 inch display. Is it too large or is it perfectly sized?

In a small interview with the fine folks over at T3, Andrew Glass, the Sales Director for Samsung UK, said that the Samsung Galaxy Note aims to be the perfect middle ground when it comes to a combo between a tablet and a smartphone. The manufacturer is aiming the device at a largely female base, as the 5.37 inch display makes the device obviously a whole lot smaller than what you’d expect from a tablet. Because of that and the added functionality, the device can easily fit into a small handbag, as it is too large for a “standard” pocket.

This might be a very well planned out combo by the Korean giant, which didn’t only combine the best of two worlds, but also gave it enough horse power to race with the best devices out there. As such, the Samsung Galaxy Note comes with a 1280 x 800 pixel 5.3 inch Super AMOLED HD display, along with a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM as well as an 8 MP rear-facing camera. The 1080p full HD recording along with a 2 MP front-facing shooter, packaged into a 9.65mm thick shell, should make the device appeal to a large crowd.

Andrew Glass also continued saying that because of the aim on the female market, the company is also considering different color waves and a number of other features meant to draw in the delicate (and beautiful) sex. So ladies, what do you think? Is it too large or is it just “fun sized”?

Samsung Galaxy Note Release Date

As probably most of you know the UK Samsung Galaxy Note release date is scheduled for the 17th of November! Off-contract pricing is rumored to be around the 480 GBP+VAT.

As far as the US Samsung Galaxy Note release date goes, even tough various officials have hinted towards a 2012 release, there is still hope.

Thanks T3 for letting us know about the targeted Samsung Galaxy Note market.

I would correct the phrase ‘weaker sex’ . I get what they intended to say but the translation to English makes it sort of derrogatory to the female race. The term probably should have been closer to ‘delicate’ or ‘feminine’.

      delicate it is :)

Ask anyone who as actually held one (or made a mockup) and they can tell you:
It fits, surprisingly well, in pretty much any pocket. Putting it in my jeans front pocket, and sitting down is no problem at all.

  • Trev

I want one. Perfect in between item. It’ll certainly fit in my suit or jacket pocket, and it’ll be nice to have a decent size screen.
    Roll on UK release.

“Female market” ?? Huh!? Since when have smart phones become “male” and “female” ?? Did steve jobs proclaim the Iphone as a “man’s phone” back in 2005 ?
Does this mean that Samsung is going to come out with a “bigger” MALE smartphone model to meet Mr Glass’s sexual stereotyping ??

    What a douche !

I’ve read nothing about mobile phone functionality. Am I right to assume that it is a smartphone, albeit a large one?

    • Catalin

Well with the functionality it packs it can really be in between… The S Pen is what really puts in in between, that and the 5.3 inch display :)
