I’ve said it plenty of times, and I’ll happily say it again: Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich is a big step ahead for Google and ultimately for us, the end-users. Not only that it brings numerous improvements and changes but it also seems like it’s going to spread faster than Froyo or Gingerbread (the signs are there, let’s hope that all the manufacturers and carriers will follow through).
It’s no secret that all the dual-core smartphones out there will probably receive the Android ICS update and Samsung’s Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note are no exception. We’ve heard a lot of rumors regarding the Ice Cream Sandwich release for those two but now we have something official to hold on to. Join us after the break to find out what’s new.

Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich: End of Q1 ?
Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4 ICS)
“The Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich update will be released before the end of Q1 2012“. This is the translated message posted on Samsung Norway’s Facebook page, message which is sure to create a lot of buzz. After all, getting a Samsung Galaxy S2 ICS release date (ok, more of a time-frame) is no small news, even though there’s still a bit of waiting (end of Q1 means probably “end of March”).
This actually comes in line with what Samsung has announced at the end of 2011. The company has stated at one point that the Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich update release date is scheduled for sometime during Q1. And I’m sure non of you expected for the update to hit at the beginning of the quarter.
Now, on the unofficial side of news, we recently heard a rumor according to which the S2 ICS update will roll-out on the 1st of March. This supposition is also backed up by the fact that the latest official Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4 build that leaked a short while ago looked like an almost finished version and it also came with Touch Wiz slapped on top of ICS.

Samsung Galaxy Note Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4 ICS)
The other good news is that the Samsung Galaxy Note will also receive the Ice Cream Sandwich update together with the Samsung Galaxy S2. Rumor has it that Norway will be the first to receive the Android 4 ICS update for both the Samsung Galaxy Note and the Samsung Galaxy S2, with the rest of the world following soon.
Samsung announced a long time ago, just like it did for the S2, that the Ice Cream Sandwich for the Galaxy Note will be released during Q1.
If the update will happen in March it would be a great thing as the USA Samsung Galaxy Note release date (at AT&T) is scheduled for February 19th.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for any news concerning the updates, as an exact date for the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich update is still unknown.
What do you guys think of the Android 4 ICS hitting the Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy S2 at the end of Q1 2012 ? Will it be released in Europe first or all the markets will get it in the same time-frame ?
Many thanks to Phandroid for letting us know of the news about the Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich update.
