Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) Update Gets A Video Preview – CM10 On Board

Waiting for the Jelly Bean update is starting to make some people lose their patience, and that’s understandable when you actually look and see what Android 4.1 has to offer. Don’t get me wrong, Ice Cream Sandwich is a great version of the Android OS and it has lots and lots of cool features, but it also comes with its flaws, one if which is the lag and choppy performance that get in the way now and again. In fact, that’s one particular issue concerning the Android OS in general, but the good news is that Google has fixed it with the Jelly Bean update.

That being said, everyone’s eager to get a share of the latest software and although some manufacturers including HTC and Samsung have already announced their plans on launching JB on some of their devices, we’re nowhere near the official finish line. However, the modding community doesn’t sleep and if you wish to get a hold of Jelly Bean on your Samsung Galaxy S2 ahead of time, now you can do so.

We’ve previously talked about the CyanogenMod 10 for the HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy Note, but now it’s time to see how the Samsung Galaxy S2 handles this particular ROM.

As with the other two devices, the S2 is super-fast when running CM 10 but, same as the Galaxy Note, it’s not AS fast as the HTC One X which pretty much shined while running this custom OS. In fact the latter felt like it managed to finally show-off its full potential once the fancy Sense UI has been removed and all that.

Nevertheless, the CM 10 preview ROM is still running quite well on the SGS2 and unlike the Note it seems like it has some extra features that work properly, including auto-orientation. That being said, if you wish to give this ROM a try make sure you check out the video below to see the handset in action. If you then wish to grab CyanogenMod 10 make sure you visit the XDA Developers forum and see the necessary instructions on how to download and install the needed files for the International SGS2, T-Mobile’s version, on AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S2 or on the Skyrocket (hit the links for each version of CyanogenMod 10).
