Samsung Galaxy S3 To Go 3D? Release Date: First Half Of 2012 (Rumored)

Before kicking this into high gear I would like to take the time an wish you a very happy new year and hopefully 2012 will be bringing us a huge array of new smartphones to play around with. With that out of the way let’s get down to business and boy what a start do we have for 2012 – the Samsung Galaxy S3 3D. There are a number of names thrown around the web with either Samsung Galaxy S 3D or Galaxy S3 3D. That’s a lot of “3”s in there but what could this mean for the competition? Will the Samsung Galaxy S3 go 3D?

Some of you might remember that, at one point during 2011, some rumors claimed that Samsung is getting ready to launch a 3D device built on the Samsung Galaxy S2 chassis. However, as months went by we didn’t hear anything new about the supposedly named Samsung Galaxy 3D until very recently. And it’s all for the better as now it seems that the manufacturer is readying a 3D smartphone related in some way with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3.

The latest information on this is coming from a wide variety of sources, most of them showing off the same technical specifications so there might be some ounce of truth to it all. We reported on the Samsung Galaxy S3 a while ago – the rumored specs were a 1.8GHz dual-core Exynos processor from Samsung, 2GB of RAM along with a 12MP main camera. The device would also be featuring a 4.6 inch HD display and as more sources quoted those specs, I’m pretty sure we are on to something.

However, the latest rumors seem to point towards a dual-camera setup on the Samsung Galaxy S3, similar to the one found in either the HTC Evo 3D or the LG Optimus 3D. Both those devices are coming with 3D capabilities and boy do we love them. The rumors also seem to be pointing towards a quad-core processor, so no dual-core unlike initially believed and the dual-camera setup might change the MP on each of them. Personally I would be guessing two 8 MP shooters on the device. The display is also under the question mark.

Although the Samsung Galaxy S3 was initially rumored to come with a 4.6 inch Super AMOLED HD Plus display the news seems to show that we could be expecting the device to come with a display anywhere in between 4.2 up to 4.65. Note that the display is still HD but you’ll also be getting 3D glassless capabilities.

If the above turns out to be true we might get a quad-core powered monster with 3D recording and playback running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Although we initially reported that the Samsung Galaxy S3 release date seems to be set for sometime in 2012, we might face a sooner launch date.

As such, the currently rumored Samsung Galaxy S3 release date seems to be set for the first half of 2012 but some sources also point towards the first quarter of the year. With a little bit of luck we will know more once CES (or, most likely, MWC) gets going. Until then though, make sure to stay tuned!
