Alright folks, after months of being assaulted by numerous rumors concerning the Samsung Galaxy S3 release date, price and specs, the most anticipated handset has been –as most of you already know- officially unveiled about a week ago.
It was about time we got some concrete information regarding the Samsung Galaxy S3, so let’s take a look at what we can expect in the future from the GS3, based on the official announcements, regarding the device’s specs, availability and price tag.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Release Date
The earliest date when the Samsung Galaxy S3 will see the light of day is May 29th, when the handset will go on sale in Europe. In UK, Vodafone apparently has an exclusivity for the 32 GB version of the Galaxy S3, exclusivity that will last one month after the handset will be released.
Nevertheless, after the exclusivity with Vodafone expires, Three, Orange and O2 UK will all join the party and will sell the 32GB Galaxy S3.
As far as the US release date of the Samsung Galaxy S3 goes, things are not as certain as they are in Europe. All that Samsung revealed thus far is that June is the month of the Galaxy S3 in the US, but whether or not they’re planning on revealing the exact release plans or actually launching the handset in June remains to be seen. However, rumors indicate that we might see the Samsung Galaxy S3 exclusively at Verizon starting June.
This announcement coincides somewhat with what we’ve reported last month, regarding a late June/Early July launch of the device, although that particular statement was based on what Meizu officially announced regarding their Meizu MX.
Last but certainly not least, Samsung is planning a world tour event for the Galaxy S3 that will take place in Asia and Middle East in the future.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Specs
Probably the most striking feature of the Galaxy S3 is the fact that it sports a 4.8 inches screen, placing it exactly in between the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note when it comes to the sheer size of the display.
Besides the 4.8 inch Super AMOLED 720 x 1280 pixels display the S3 packs the quad-core 1.4 GHz Exynos 4412 processor as expected, mated with an ARM Mali-400/MP4 GPU, it comes with either 16 or 32 GB of internal storage expandable by up to 32 GB via microSD, 1 GB of RAM, Android 4.0.4 behind a new TouchWiz UX version, an 8 MP camera on the front with 1080p HD video recording capabilities, a 1.3 camera on the front and a 2100mAh battery.
In case you were wondering, the Galaxy S3 will indeed feature wireless charging capabilities confirming that old rumor we’ve heard some time ago.
As far as its dimensions and weight goes, the S3 is pretty slick, measuring 5.38 x 2.78 x 0.34 (136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm) and weighting 4.69 oz (133 grams).
Concerning its design, the Galaxy S3 adopted a more organic look and now features rounded corners, despite what we’ve seen so far on other Galaxy handsets, but what’s even more interesting is that the Galaxy S3 features a “Menu” sensitive button, which is rather weird because most, if not all, handsets coming with ICS out of the box nowadays got rid of this particular feature.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Price
Additionally, you can pre-order the Galaxy S3 from Phones4U for free alongside a £36 per month Vodafone UK or Orange contract, whilst O2 is offering the S3 at the price of £99 alongside a £37 per month two-year contract.
That’s about it everyone, feel free to drop us a line and share your thoughts with us regarding the GS3. The waiting for the most highly anticipated handset is almost over.
