Ever since the Samsung Galaxy S3 has been officially unveiled earlier this month, and since the European release date of the device is pretty much set in stone already, we’ve kept an eye out for any bits of information that might reveal the Samsung Galaxy S3 availability in the US, including an exact release date, its carriers and also specifications.
Samsung Galaxy S3 at Verizon
As you may recall, not long ago we’ve reported that the Samsung Galaxy S3 at Verizon won’t sport the highly acclaimed quad-core Exynos CPU but it will come with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor instead.
Now it appears that the NeneMark2 results of a Verizon device quite similar to the Galaxy S3 have surfaced, indicating once more that Verizon’s Galaxy S3 will not come with a quad-core chip. Join us after the break.
The device in question is known by the model number SCH-I535, which has been previously linked with Verizon’s Galaxy S3. It’s not a hundred percent sure that what we’re looking at is indeed the Galaxy S3, but the screen resolution, GPU and CPU speed indicate that this could very much be the GS3.
In case you’re not too familiar with the reasons behind the difference in specs between the US and the European Galaxy S3, it’s because the quad-core Exynos, just as the quad-core Tegra 3, is not LTE friendly.
The only chance that the Galaxy S3 enthusiasts in the US could get a quad-core Galaxy S3 is if the rumor concerning a quad-core Galaxy S3 at Rogers turns out to be true, giving AT&T an opportunity to launch a similar quad-core variant on their network, as both Rogers and AT&T make use of the same bands.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Release Date at Verizon
As far as the exact launch date of the Galaxy S3 in the US goes, we expect the smartphone to be seen on the shelves starting with June, but whether or not Verizon might get a hold of the handset in June with a limited exclusivity, or if we’ll see the handset available during the same month at Sprint, AT&T and/or T-Mobile remains to be seen.
We’ll keep an eye out for any new info. Until then feel free to drop us a line.
Thanks DroidLife for the heads-up regarding the Samsung Galaxy S3 at Verizon.
