Do you remember that time when the Samsung Galaxy S3 was still nowhere close to its release date and we used to dig through every bit of information regarding the device? Lots of rumors surfaced before the handset has been officially unveiled, but that’s to be expected from a device that manages to build such hype around it. The thing is, some of those old rumors became a reality and others did not. One of the most interesting rumors that turned out to be true is the one indicating that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will come with wireless charging.

I know what you’re thinking now. You’re thinking that the Samsung Galaxy S3 can’t be charged wirelessly and you’d be correct to a certain degree. Fact of the matter is, the SGS3 can’t be charged on a charging pad Yet. However, during the unveiling of the device at the beginning of May it has been confirmed that wireless charging capabilities will be present in the future.
Well, the future seems to get closer to us because, after we told you about the Verizon bound Samsung Galaxy S3 wireless charging kits, yet another such dock has been officially announced by a third party manufacturer.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Wireless Charging Dock From Zens: Release Date and Price Tag Guide
Zens has recently revealed that they are planning on releasing a Wireless Charging Dock for the Samsung Galaxy S3. This dock consists in a charging pad that you can place on your desk or wherever you want, and it also comes with a backplate for your Samsung Galaxy S3. So in other words, if you’re not changing the backplate of your device with the one that comes from Zens, the phone won’t charge.
For me personally that wouldn’t be a problem, but it is and that’s solely because judging by the pictures revealed by Zens, their backplate is rebranded and doesn’t say Samsung anymore. In fact, it says “Zens”. I’m probably nitpicking right now and it’s not really that big a deal, but for me at least that’s a downside.

As for when and at what price you’ll be able to grab a Zens charging dock, the company plans on launching this accessory on the market starting with September. As far as pricing goes, the wireless charging dock will cost about $80.
It’s a nice gadget nevertheless, but I fear that the price tag might be a bigger deal breaker for some than the missing “Samsung” logo on the backplate. Still, if you’re interested make sure you head down to the Zens official website and find out the details. It’s a nice piece of technology and in the end it shouldn’t be easily overlooked.
One last thing I should mention, you might also want to consider waiting for Samsung’s wireless charging dock (if you have the patience to do so, keeping in mind the fact that they haven’t mentioned anything about it lately). Nevertheless, as mentioned above, Samsung stated that they will make this accessory available during this autumn. The best part about it however is the idea that, supposedly, you will be able to charge your handset from a few meters away and it won’t be necessary for the phone to touch any charging pad. How and if Samsung will manage to pull this off remain to be seen.
