UK Samsung Galaxy S4: What Type of SoC Will It Pack ?
Ever since the Samsung Galaxy S4 got unveiled in New York City, we’ve known that the handset will arrive in two main flavors, one of which is destined for LTE-enabled markets such as the US. It’s more or less the same story like last year, when the Samsung Galaxy S3 got launched with a Snapdragon CPU in the States, while the international model packed an Exynos 4 quad-core CPU. The difference however, is that this time both models will boast 2 GB of RAM and the processors themselves will be much more powerful.
In any case, we’ve expected the Exynos 5 Octa to power-up the international SGS4. Recently, the mystery of Samsung Galaxy S4’s CPU in the US has been elucidated but we had no info regarding the UK (where the deployment of LTE networks is going at what seems to be a rapid pace). Interestingly enough, it looks like Samsung has taken notice of UK’s deployment of LTE as the Samsung Galaxy S4 model destined for this market might not be powered by the Exynos 5 Octa SoC.
Samsung Galaxy S4 in UK – Processor
A lot of people have expected the 8-core Exynos SoC (1 x Cortex A-15 quad clocked at 1.6 GHz, coupled with 1 x Cortex –A7 quad-core clocked at 1.2 GHz) to be found inside the UK model of the Galaxy S4, but word on the street is that the quad core Snapdragon 600 CPU (clocked at 1.9 GHz) might actually end up powering the device.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 UK release date is scheduled for April 25/26 via Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U, EE, Three and the list goes on. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see whether or not the UK variant will boast the Exynos 5 Octa or the Snapdragon 600, but I feel that many enthusiasts in the UK might be disappointed by the idea of the latest Samsung-made CPU not being under the hood of their gadget.
