When Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S4 it left out two of the most important details – the release date and price tag.
The manufacturer’s omissions have been unfortunate as a lot of people have been curious to find out how much will this handset set them back. Let’s not forget that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is half smartphone (with specs similar to those of the Galaxy S4 Mini) half point-and-shoot camera (very similar to last year’s Samsung Galaxy Camera) – so, if priced accordingly, it could end up being a bestseller with those wanting both an entry level smartphone and a decent point-and-shoot.
Well, thanks to Cyberport (Germany based retailer) we can now say that, if you’re part of the aforementioned group of people, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Join us after the break if you’re curious to see how much will the S4 Zoom set you back.
The LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom has recently gone up for pre order, via Cyberport, at the price of 499 EUR (including VAT). Considering that the LTE Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is priced at 449 EUR (including VAT) and that the Galaxy Camera would set you back 349 EUR (including VAT), we think that the S4 Zoom is quite appropriately priced. All you need to do now is to get used to the idea of owning a very bulky hybrid (judging by smartphone standards).
Now what does this mean for our friends across the Atlantic Ocean? Well, the S4 Zoom will most likely end up being priced around $500, unlocked. Don’t make the mistake of trying to make the EUR to USD conversion as this is not how things work in this industry.
For those of you not up to date yet, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core CPU and features a 4.3 inch super AMOLED display (960×540, ~256 ppi), 1.5 GB of RAM, and a dissappointing amount of 8 GB of internal storage (expandable via a microSD card). All of this is being powered by a 2330 mAh and runs on Android 4.2 (evidently, with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top).
Now, as far as the camera department is concerned, the S4 comes with a 16 MP rear-facing camera with 10x optical zoom, Optical Image Stabilization, HDR, F3.1-6.3 F-Stop range, 100 to 3200 ISO range, and a Xenon Flash. The front facing camera has the decent amount of 1.9 MegaPixels.
